Jamie is a First Nations-Métis woman and a member of the Cowessess First Nation. Jamie Lerat brings deep experience and passion for Indigenous Entrepreneurship as an Associate with Upfront.
Jamie’s career included working 11+ years for the Saskatchewan School Boards Association in First Nations & Métis Education and 13+ years forSaskatchewan Government Insurance in a variety of roles in Community Relations, Communications and Human Resources. Her current and past consulting roles included work with Indigenous Services Canada, the Office of the Treaty Commissioner, and UpFront Consulting. Jamie has always had a passion for Indigenous Entrepreneurship and in 2013 that appetite was further strengthened when she was given the opportunity in collaborating a partnership with The Right Honourable Paul Martin, founder of the Martin Aboriginal Education Initiative that developed theAboriginal Youth Entrepreneurship Program.
As a graduate student of the U of R Levene Graduate School of Business, Jamie will be completing her MBA in Fall 2020. Her educational journey also includes Diplomas in Radio Broadcasting, Broadcast Journalism, and Associate of Business Administration. She also holds certificates in Ethical Research, Psychological First Aid and Professional Leadership. As a proud member of the Treaty Four Territory, Jamie enjoys sharing pieces of her Cree culture with colleagues, friends and her group fitness participants and hopes the knowledge she shares will assist them with their own journey of Reconciliation, truth and understanding.
